A Someret Car driver has been left fuming after their car window was smashed in because a would-be hero thought they saw a dog inside – which turned out to be a stuffed toy.
The owner of the car posted the images of their smashed window on Social Media, branding the would be hero ‘stupid’. Personally I think its an honest mistake, and looking at the stuffed toy, Ive got to say it looks very realistic !!
A quick search on Amazon and I found some very similar toys, and I can see why this genuine mistake may have been made !
The anonymous upload reads: “I returned to my car after leaving it for 20 minutes to do some shopping to find someone has smashed the back window in as they thought my daughter’s plush toy dog was a real dog trapped in the heat.
“How can you be this stupid?
“Shame on you.”
However, Somerset Live reports that the majority of comments backed the window-smasher, not the moaning Facebook user.
One man said: “I would have done the same thing – that does look quite life-like.”
A woman added: “Well done to the person who did it thinking it was a real dog, be thankful people care.”
A third person posted: “I don’t blame them – it’s an honest mistake.
“Next time don’t leave the dog in view making people think it’s real.”
One funny user parodied the original post, writing: “I returned to my car after leaving it for 20 minutes to do some shopping to find someone has smashed the back window in as I left a realistic looking dog plush toy in the window and it’s the hottest day of the year.
The moral of the story I guess is not to leave a toy dog on the back seat !!!!! And it is a timely reminder once again as the weather seems to be so great at the moment, not to leave your dog in a car in this heat.

A police spokesman tweeted: “He was very happy to be set free!” An officer who smasView posthed the car’s window to rescue the dog said the car’s owners “weren’t happy with us because their window was put in”
